The Copy Editor performs English-language copy-editing functions across brands and platforms within the Mexico network hub. They ensure that style is consistent, brand voices are protected, that content is free of inflammatory or insensitive language and errors and typos, and is in line with Content Integrity Group standards. Reviews translated content to provide market/cultural framework and guidance. Communicates with the Senior Copy Manager and brand management to ensure workflows are in line with global recommendations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Copy edits a wide range of English-language material for spelling, grammar, punctuation, context, and style
  • Reviews translated content to provide market/cultural framework and guidance
  • Works closely with editors and adjacent departments to resolve issues
  • Makes automatic copy changes in accordance with brand and CN style guides
  • Alerts Group Copy Director if content does not meet standards and/or process needs refining/communicating

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Native-level English (spoken and written) required, with a deep understanding of idiomatic expression and an eagle eye for detail
  • Extensive experience copy-editing English-language consumer print content
  • Strong knowledge of language trends and familiarity with a range of style guides
  • Near-native-level English speaker (CEFR C2) with an understanding of idiomatic expression and an eagle eye for detail
  • Near-native-level Spanish speaker (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages C2)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively and creatively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and switch gears
  • Ability to embrace new structures, platforms, technology, and programs with ease
  • Eagle eye for detail
  • Collaborative team member who takes initiative and remains calm under pressure
